We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer for our client in Windsor, ON. This is a full-time position that operates on a straight day shift. This is a permanent position with the company.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee and enhance a productive, high-quality, and customer-focused MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) engineering department. Ensure continuous improvement from current practices to best practices across diversified market sectors.
- Lead and manage a wide variety of projects from the initial design phase through to on-site contract administration. This includes ensuring that all mechanical engineering aspects, particularly HVAC and plumbing design, are effectively executed and meet project requirements.
- Develop comprehensive mechanical and plumbing working drawings, construction details, and specifications. Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) to ensure accuracy and coordination within the collaborative team environment.
- Engage with clients in educational, commercial, industrial, and healthcare markets. Provide expert consultation and design solutions tailored to meet the specific needs and expectations of each client.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to integrate mechanical engineering solutions with other building systems. Foster a collaborative and supportive team environment to ensure project success.
- Implement quality control processes to ensure all designs and specifications adhere to industry standards and best practices. Conduct regular reviews and audits of project documentation and designs.
- Utilize advanced software tools, including Revit, BIM, and AutoCAD (latest edition), to create precise and efficient design solutions. Stay updated with the latest software advancements and industry trends.
- Ensure all designs comply with the Ontario Building Code and other relevant regulations. Maintain a thorough understanding of building science and construction detailing, particularly in HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and hydronics.
- Stay abreast of new developments in mechanical engineering, green building design, and energy modeling & auditing. Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
- Prepare for a senior role by demonstrating the ability to lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the company by taking on increasing responsibilities and leadership roles.
- Maintain a strong customer focus in all aspects of work. Ensure that all interactions with clients, team members, and stakeholders are conducted in a professional and courteous manner.
The successful candidate will have the following experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Ontario licensed P. Eng. in good standing.
- 5+ years’ experience in mechanical (HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Protection) analysis and design for buildings.
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
- Knowledge and experience producing 3D models and 2D mechanical/HVAC drawings.
- Experience in structural detailing an asset.
- Require knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
- General understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative, critical and pragmatic thought.
- Strong focus on quality and the ability to check your own work and work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications and writing reports.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Correspondence and collaboration with all related disciplines (architects, contractors, planners etc.).
- Ability to function with minimum supervision.
