We are currently recruiting for a Financial Controller for our client in Lakeshore.  This is a full-time position on a fixed contract.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.
  • Maximizes return, and limits risk, on cash by minimizing bank balances and making investments.
  • Prepares budgets by establishing schedules and collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans.
  • Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Prepare statements and payments for WSIB, EHT, Source Deductions (subject to change if ADP is used for Payroll), and HST.
  • Maintains prepaid accounts.
  • Prepares PPA schedules.
  • Maintains accrual accounts.
  • Reconciles bank accounts.
  • Computes and posts FX entries for month-end.
  • Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees and planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Provides weekly financial summaries.
  • Determines account receivables risks and assists in collection.
  • Reconciles month-end reports and works with the Manufacturing Supervisor with percentage of completions.
  • Manages the bank accounts and utilizes online banking. Maintains a good relationship with bank personnel.
  • Maintains system to account for financial transactions for multiple locations.
  • Maintains subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
  • Balances subsidiary accounts by reconciling entries.
  • Maintains general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries.
  • Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries.
  • Assists with month end procedures and reconciliations.
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Attends SAP training and acquires up-to-date knowledge as needed.
  • Works with corporate accountants on year-end tax returns.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Rate of Pay:  65K-85K (depending on experience)
