We are currently recruiting Field Research Assistants for our client in Georgetown, ON. This is a temporary FULL-TIME position, that operates on a straight day from 8am-4pm.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Field Activities
- Preparing for planting (filling planting envelopes, sorting, and organizing seed packages into planting order)
- Planting (not hand planting but working with equipment to plant sites
- Tissue sampling
- Removing discarded plants
- Releasing bees for pollination
- Placing row markers in fields
- Assisting with note collection
- Harvesting
- Graining cleaning and organizing
Greenhouse Activities
- Greenhouse planting
- Tissue sampling
- Emasculated crossing
- Plant care (staking, tidying up dropped leaves)
- Harvesting
- Threshing
- Organizing seed packages and weighting
The successful candidate will have the following experience:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Ability to work extended hours in an outdoor field environment with exposure to bees
- Ability to work in a greenhouse
- Drivers License required as successful candidate will be required to drive leased vehicle between sites
- Steel toed ankle high shoes/boots required
- Reliable and able to work in a team atmosphere
Day shift: 8am-4pm
Hours: 40 hours + possible OT
Type: Contract
Pay: $19/hour
