We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Press Operator for our client in Lakeshore, ON. The company runs on a 12-hour continental shift (day and midnight rotation). The successful candidate There is the opportunity will have the opportunity to get hired with the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation of Extrusion Press at the best possible speed while maintaining a good quality extrusion, start each order off by running no less than the average speed of each die.
- Ensure all necessary tooling is available at the beginning and throughout shift.
- Check finish and dimensions on extrusions at the required frequency and document as required.
- Ensure press sign-offs after samples are checked.
- Ensure press last off samples are properly labelled and kept together for supervisor’s verification.
- Mark cavity numbers and direction of flow on the samples and the corresponding extrusions on the cooling table so the APO can cut.
- Check the run out at the beginning and throughout the run of each order and enter in EPICS.
- Ensure all billets and alloy used are accounted for in EPICS. Verify first and last billet per order to ensure proper alloy and length is used.
- Ensure all traceable information is entered into EPICS.
- Comply with all quality related policies, procedures, and system requirements.
- Follow all safety procedures and report anything that is unsafe.
- Look for opportunities to improve process and press output.
The successful candidate will have the following experience:
- Secondary school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience as a Press Operator
- Previous experience in Aluminum or other metal industry would be considered an asset
- Computer literate
- Ability to work all 12 hour rotating shifts
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Works well with others
Wage: $19.48/hour
Shift: continental rotation – 12-hour shifts
